Professional pilots work in a complex and demanding environment. To successfully introduce them to a new type of aircraft SAT initial type rating training courses provide high quality technical and operational training. The courses may be undertaken in a modular format composed of E-Learning and classroom lectures or in a synergy flow combining E-Learning, Fix Base Simulator and classroom lectures. Modern learning tools and latest state of the art full flight simulators ensure realistic and efficient training.

Prerequisites

To enrol in our courses, pilots have to meet the following prerequisites:

  • Have at least 70 hours of flight experience as pilot in command on aeroplanes
  • Hold a multi-engine Instrument Rating IR(A)
  • Have passed the Airline Transport Pilot Licence ATPL(A) theoretical knowledge examinations in accordance with Part-FCL
  • Hold a certificate of satisfactory completion of an Multi Crew Coordination (MCC) course in aeroplanes or
  • Have at least 500 hours as a pilot in multi-pilot operation in commercial air transport
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (ICAO level 4)
  • For low visibility training: low visibility experience (Cat II/III) or attendance of the initial ground  training course for low visibility operations according to Part-SPA, Subpart E, AMC1 SPA.LVO.120

If the applicant does not fulfil a minimum of 500 hours experience of the following categories (airline jet  transport, turbo prop greater than 5700 kg, high performance military jet, corporate jet) additional training shall be defined as appropriate.

If the applicant does not fulfil the requirements above but fulfils the requirements of the national authority issuing the licence, additional training shall be defined as appropriate.

  • Have a valid  Airline Transport Pilot Licence  ATPL(A)
  • Have previous command experience on similar aeroplane type
  • Have at least 500 hours as pilot in command in multi-pilot operation
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (ICAO level 4)
  • For low visibility training: low visibility experience (Cat II/III) or attendance of the initial ground  training course for low visibility operations according to Part-SPA, Subpart E, AMC1 SPA.LVO.120

If the applicant does not fulfil the requirements above but fulfils the requirements of the competent authority issuing the licence, additional training shall be defined as appropriate.

Objective

Upon completion of this course the participant demonstrates theoretical knowledge and skills required for the safe operation of the aeroplane.

We offer most of the modular type rating courses as onsite courses. Modular courses are mainly CBT, classroom courses without an integrated procedure trainer or fix base simulator.

The following additional training modules are available for synergy and modular courses:

  • Bridge course / Jet introduction
  • Special aerodrome qualification (i.e. LCY, INN, CMF)
  • Right hand seat qualification
  • Low visibility operations (LOV) may be included in any initial type rating training course
  • Zero flight time training (ZFTT) if approved by respective authority and/or operator
