Pilots may face sometimes complex situations during daily flight operations due to aircraft technical malfunctions or non-technical factors such as adverse weather. To ensure pilots maintain the competence to master such scenarios safely, flight crews are trained by experienced and qualified SAT instructors to maintain or exceed required standards. An authorised examiner then verifies the competence of the pilot during a proficiency check.

"Our pilots have conducted their LPCs and OPCs  with SAT and always to our complete satisfaction. SAT has always supported us greatly in the planning of the trainings."

Nadine Richter
Training Dept.
AVCON JET

"90% of our crews have completed their initial E-Jet training at SAT. This, along with the fact that we have mostly used the SAT simulator for recurrent training of our pilots, as well as for instructor training, speaks for our satisfaction with SAT."

Content and duration

The training programme is established in such a way that all major failures of aircraft systems and associated procedures will be covered in a 3 year period.

The LPC is an annual recurrent training which consists of ground training followed by training/checking in the full-flight simulator. Usually it's combined with an OPC and takes 4 days maximum.

Ground training:

  • 16 hours CBT theoretical knowledge Systems

Flight training (FSTD):

  • 4 hours training in the full-flight simulator
  • 4 hours checking in the full-flight simulator

The OPC is a semi-annual recurrent training which consists of training/checking in the full-flight simulator only and takes 2 days maximum.

Flight training (FSTD):

  • 4 hours training in the full-flight simulator
  • 4 hours checking in the full-flight simulator
