Marcel Witzig has been the CEO of Swiss AviationTraining since May 2014. He began his professional career back in 1986, when he joined Swissair as an air transport apprentice. And his subsequent career within the airline industry saw him hold a wide range of functions, including Head of Aircraft Handling in Zurich.
Marcel Witzig also served as Swiss International Air Lines’ Head of Ground Services from the company’s creation in 2002 until 2014, and played a vital role in SWISS’s initial development and subsequent restructuring. In 2004 he was additionally placed in overall charge of the SWISS emergency organization outside Switzerland; and from 2012 onwards he was entrusted with various ground operations integration projects within the Lufthansa Group.
The holder of a Diploma in Business Administration, Marcel Witzig also has a Master’s Degree in Practicing Management from the University of Lancaster (UK) and INSEAD, Fontainebleau (France).
David Birrer has been in overall charge of Swiss AviationTraining’s operations (pilot school, type rating training, safety & services training, technical training, training devices, IT & infrastructure and operation steering & development) since June 2014.
Prior to this, he had served as Vice President Logistics since 2009. In this capacity he was responsible for all of SAT’s training facilities (flight simulators, other training equipment, IT and building infrastructure), overseeing their acquisition, modification, certification and round-the-clock operation and availability together with his team.
Before joining SAT, David Birrer acquired expertise and experience in a number of functions including director of marketing & strategy, business development manager and head of project management. A trained, qualified and experienced electrical engineer, he also holds a Diploma in Engineering & Business Administration and an Executive MBA in International Management.
Sabine Eichert has been the CFO of Swiss AviationTraining, with responsibility for the company’s finances, human resources and supply chain management, since 2005.
She came to SAT from a global manufacturer of precision instruments, where she had served in various executive capacities including head of finance & administration, senior accountant and marketing controller.
Sabine Eichert studied business science and geography at Bayreuth University in Germany. She also holds a high school teaching degree.
