About our pilot training school

About our pilot training school

Providing basic training for the future pilots of SWISS, Edelweiss and the Swiss Air Force is part of the core mission of Swiss AviationTraining (SAT). As an officially certificated Approved Training Organization (ATO), SAT offers two training models here: the integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) and the integrated Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) training. Admission to both programs is subject to the successful outcome of a corresponding aptitude assessment, which is conducted by the Swiss Air Force or the airline concerned.

Being currently the only ATO in Switzerland, SAT is also recognized as an Institute of Higher Vocational Education (“höhere Fachschule” or “HF”) by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), and individuals who complete their pilot training at SAT are awarded the legally-protected HF pilot’s diploma. Since the beginning of 2016, SAT trainee pilots can also apply to the Swiss Confederation for financial support. SAT further offers a dual licence-plus-bachelor's-degree course in collaboration with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in Winterthur.

Further information here will be found on the ZHAW website.
