Swiss AviationTraining (SAT) will formally surrender its rights and entitlements as a Maintenance Training Organisation on 31 December 2016 and will transfer the management and conducting of all its technical training to Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) with effect from 1 January 2017.

Conversion and differences training communicates the safety-relevant differences between aircraft types, variants and different configurations in normal and emergency situations. There is a particular focus on the location, removal from holders and use of emergency equipment on board.


Conversion training covers the following topics:

  • Fire and smoke
  • Operation of doors and exits
  • Evacuation and evacuation slide
  • Evacuation procedures and other emergency situations
  • Crowd control
  • Pilot incapacitation
  • Safety equipment
  • Passenger briefing/safety demonstrations
  • Aeroplane-type-specific CRM

Conversion or differences training?

Conversion training must be completed:

  • Before being assigned to work as a crew member
  • Before changing to a new aircraft type

Differences training must be completed:

  • Before changing to a different variant of the aircraft type
  • If the emergency equipment has changed or is located in a different position
  • If the emergency procedures have changed


The course is adapted to special customer requirements.


Previous successful completion of the Initial Safety Training.

Examination and certificate.

Additional information

The training is conducted indirectly by Swiss Aviation Training on behalf of the airline. The airline must ensure that the course has been approved by the relevant authority.
