Swiss AviationTraining (SAT) will formally surrender its rights and entitlements as a Maintenance Training Organisation on 31 December 2016 and will transfer the management and conducting of all its technical training to Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) with effect from 1 January 2017.

In an emergency, every second counts. In initial safety training, cabin crew members learn how to use equipment quickly and correctly and how to react in emergency situations. Our experienced instructors use a combination of theory and practical exercises to impart the necessary expertise in order to ensure the best possible on-board safety.


Initial safety training covers the following topics:

  • Fire and smoke
  • Survival in water
  • Survival training
  • Medical aspects and first aid
  • Passenger handling
  • Communication
  • Discipline and responsibilities
  • Introduction to crew resource management CRM (incl. operator CRM)
  • Dangerous goods training
  • Security training


After Initial Safety Training, each crew member knows the necessary safety procedures in normal and emergency situations and can use the on-board emergency equipment.

Target audience

Initial Safety training is aimed at prospective cabin crew members with no previous experience.


The course can be designed according to the customer’s requirements and needs.


Participants must be at least 18 years of age and employed by an airline.

Swiss Aviation Training provides training on behalf of an airline. The airline must ensure that the course is approved by the relevant authority.
